Our highly experienced freelance copyeditors, proof-readers and project managers are dedicated to ensuring the highest possible quality for all of the content that we work with. We can take content and manuscripts from first draft to final output or support with separate pre-press or other editorial activities as you need. We are comfortable with working on digital content and hard copy and happy to liaise directly with authors or suppliers if that would help you too, including creating briefs and providing quality assurance, checks and balances as needed.

IMAGE RESEARCH & SELECTION

Our team are all experienced in working with highly illustrated content and ideally placed to undertake image research on your behalf. We have accounts with a number of image banks and are used to working with briefs that require both technical and aesthetic expertise and accuracy. We know how much time image research can take and are happy to help reduce the strain on your internal teams by supporting with image research and selection.

  
 

PERMISSIONS SERVICES

We have all worked in-house and know how much time permissions clearance can take! For those projects where your team’s time would be better spent elsewhere, or when time is short before the pre-press or production process must begin, let us help. We can provide our own templates for permissions applications and tracking or use yours, whatever is better for you. We can also assess content for third party usage, providing you with a detailed report and recommendations or liaise directly with your authors and writing teams, as you prefer.

Melody is the Founder of Just Content and brings over 15 years of publishing experience to every assignment, having hand-picked associates from her network to support her in delivering high quality services through Just Content.

A confident leader and dedicated publishing professional, Melody has a proven successful background in content acquisition for print and digital formats. She has expertise in all editorial workflows from concept and strategy to the nuts and bolts of demonstrably effective product development. With deep sector knowledge of the educational markets, Melody is passionate about creating content that truly accelerates the learner journey and that supports lifelong learning. Melody is equally as comfortable in delivering on projects and activities as she is in overseeing or leading them. She has a proven and successful track record in interim management, particularly in driving change and leading during transition periods.

LOUISE LE BAS

Louise is a Senior Associate at Just Content, with 12 years of experience in the publishing industry across the broad range of formats, media and sectors spanning academic (books and journals), professional and education. Louise specializes in the latter with a focus on teaching, learning and assessment resource strategy, commissioning and product development. She has worked on and overseen the development of a full range of products, both print and digital (basic and more advanced e-learning and online products) and is an experienced and confident Publisher with excellent portfolio strategy, commissioning, instructional design, content development, author management, project and budget management, market research, strategic partnerships and business development skills. She has managed large projects and consulted on and developed content for international awarding organizations, publishing houses and specialist e-learning companies developing e-learning courses for professional training. She has a strong interest in digital innovation, how people learn, how learning is supported, delivered and assessed, and works with clients to help support them in this whilst balancing commercial and strategic objectives.




CHRIS BROWN

Chris is an Associate of Just Content. With over 10 years of experience in the publishing industry, Chris has worked on a variety of print and digital products at all stages of the publishing process from commissioning through to development editorial and production. Chris first worked as a Senior Development Editor at Nelson Thornes before moving on to an electronic production role at the company. In recent years Chris has worked in a freelance capacity for various educational publishers in roles that range from discrete, specialist tasks to full overall project management. Chris is talented and versatile; his electronic experience extends to e-learning content creation and instructional design.




SARAH BURROWS

Sarah is an Associate of Just Content. After 11 years' working in the academic publishing industry, Sarah is experienced in all aspects of journal management and acquisition. She has a deep understanding of all of the elements required to publish world leading journals. From effective editorial office management to strategic management of portfolios of journals including commissioning new titles, working with subscription and open access models. She thrives on researching and winning new contracts. A specialist in contract publishing, she has developed and delivered a full range of products, both print and digital, on behalf of learned societies, ensuring excellence across their whole publishing portfolio in a changing landscape. A motivated and confident Publisher with a broad range of skills to contribute to any aspect of the journal publishing process that you require support with.




FIONA CAIRNS

Fiona is an Associate of Just Content. As an experienced publishing and multimedia professional she has commissioned and developed educational books, journals, multi-volume reference works, remote learning materials, ebooks, content-rich apps and online experiences for a variety of academic, publishing and museum clients. Fiona has experience of managing complex projects in languages from Gaelic to Arabic and Mandarin and over 25 years she has worked with clients in America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East to design, develop and deliver educational content for their audiences. She is as comfortable working closely with authors on their scripts as running diverse project teams and managing complex budgets.




ANNA CARTER

Anna is an Associate of Just Content. An accomplished editor with over 16 years’ experience in educational publishing, Anna has an in-depth working knowledge of the educational markets within Europe and Australia. Anna, has worked as a Commissioning Editor, managed a team of Development Editors and carried out consultancy and freelance roles for a large number of educational publishers. She has proficient market research and project management skills, competence in budget management and business development and is able to plan strategically working across both print and electronic products.




EMILY GIBSON

Emily is an Associate of Just Content. As a Director of Corbas Consultancy (www.corbas.co.uk), she also runs courses for The Publishing Training Centre and Imago Training. Emily has over 15 years’ publishing experience, mostly in editorial, print and digital production and works as a publishing consultant and trainer, bringing together her expertise and enthusiasm for ebooks, project management and business analysis, training and digital content delivery. Emily works with Just Content to help our clients with training, ebooks, analysing and rationalising digital/pre-press workflows, authoring and building specifications and guidelines, ebook/XML/PDF QA, vendor analysis and supplier due diligence, writing and developing digital content, project management and business analysis, Emily is a talented editor and content specialist.




TOM JORDAN

Tom is an Associate of Just Content. He has worked as an editor for more than 12 years, building up a wealth of experience in project management, consultancy, commissioning, development and copy editing. Tom worked full time in travel publishing for several years, and has contributed editorially to companies and titles including Bradt Travel Guides, Berlitz, Michelin Guides, Explorer Publishing, Sunday Times Travel Magazine, National Geographic Traveller and CNN. Since becoming freelance in 2010 he has also worked for a variety of educational publishers, including Cambridge University Press and Pearson, as well as on digital projects and for commercial clients. Tom is a member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.




CLAIRE NAPOLI

Claire is a Senior Associate at Just Content. A talented editor with over six years' experience in education publishing, Claire’s work has focused on both print and digital products, including ebooks, student and tutor websites and complex blended e-learning solutions. She is meticulously organised, resourceful, with a strong eye for detail and adept at prioritising and problem solving in order to hit tight deadlines. Claire is highly experienced in author management, market research, project management, commissioning, coordinating photo/video shoots and overseeing content delivery for a range of educational learning resources.




BRUNO PAUL

Bruno is an Associate of Just Content. His areas of expertise are ELT, world languages and undergraduate education, with solid experience of educational and trade publishing for all age groups, from primary through university. His publishing career began in sales with International Thomson (now Cengage) in the USA and progressed to international marketing roles for the Americas, EMEA and Asia with Pearson, Cambridge University Press, and Oxford University Press. These experiences gave him a strong voice in product development and led him to pre-and post-pub research with users, as well as teacher training. Since 2006, Bruno has been working as a Freelance Editor and Publishing Consultant, handling a diversity of projects involving content/ copy editing for print and online, project management, briefing writers, and authoring content.




LIZ WALNE

Liz is a Senior Associate at Just Content. An accomplished publishing professional with over six years of experience in the education sector, her hallmark as an editor is her depth of experience in research and development across print and digital media. Highly versatile, Liz has led many publishing ventures for both domestic and global markets across higher education, trade, custom and qualifications publishing. By applying her strong project management skills she has consistently ensured high quality project delivery, on time and within budget. Her portfolio includes expertise in business development and consultancy and over the course of her career she has driven the development of various market leading titles. Liz balances her editorial career with work in politics where her areas of specialism include policy research, media management, and campaigning.




RACHEL CROOKES

Rachel started her publishing career in 2002 after a brief stint as a journalist. She cut her teeth at Routledge, has worked as a Development Editor for McGraw Hill and was Senior Commissioning Editor for Nursing and Health at Open University Press for 9 years. She works as an associate for Just Content and also has a part time role at online course provider Epigeum (part of Oxford University Press) where she develops online courses for Undergraduate students.

Rachel’s passion is making educational resources accessible to all, and working closely with authors to develop the best possible content. She prides herself on providing the best possible author care, while delivering products that are commercially successful and academically credible. Her commissioning expertise covers textbooks, revision guides, research texts and online products.




ALISSA MCWHINNIE

With over 11 years of experience in Educational publishing, ranging from primary ELT to Higher Education, Alissa is an expert in all areas of print and digital production. She has a special interest in workflow planning and team building and mentoring, and has been responsible for producing high quality textbooks and multicomponent series, and companion and standalone digital resources, both as an editor and as the Head of department. She has extensive experience in proofreading, freelance management, vendor management, vendor selection, photo research, rights management , file conversions and QA and project management.





MELINDA WELCH

Melinda is an Associate of Just Content. As an in-house designer in the US, she worked for Holt Rinehart Winston, Harcourt, The Dryden Press and Thomson before setting up Design Deluxe (designdeluxe.com) in the UK. Design Deluxe are book design specialists. With her depth of skills and experience she and her team have designed books for Bloomsbury, Cengage Learning, City & Guilds, Hodder Education, John Hunt Publishing, Kogan Page, Laurence King, Oneworld Publications, Pearson, Robert Hale, Sage Publications, The British Museum Press, Wiley Blackwell, amongst others. Melinda produces outstanding designs for both text and cover. With over 20 years' experience, she is highly skilled at interpreting briefs and turning abstract ideas into powerful designs.



LOUISE FONCECA

Louise is an Associate of Just Content. A qualified English language teacher, she has over 12 years' experience in ELT publishing. She began her publishing career at Macmillan Education, spending several years as editor and then managing editor in their Latin America department. As a result, one of her specialisms and key interests is American English. Since 2005, she has been a freelance editor, project manager and author, working on a range of print and digital components for publishers including Macmillan Education, Pearson, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press and the British Council. Louise is highly experienced in all aspects of the publishing process, and reliably delivers quality projects on time and within budget.



LOREN BOWE

An English Language graduate, Loren spent three years teaching English Language and Linguistics in China and Thailand. Whilst there, she was involved in various initiatives targeted at the development and standardisation of English Language curriculums in rural schools. Upon joining City & Guilds’ Digital Learning Resources team as a Project Manager, she managed the content development process across a range of vocational print and e-learning products consistently ensuring the highest standard of educational resources on schedule and to budget. Her strengths lie in her impeccable editorial skills and her ability to work collaboratively with authors to produce innovative and creative content that engages and inspires learning. She now works as an associate for Just Content alongside a number of personal writing projects that span magazine editorials, travel journalism, and entertainment reviews.



CARLY LINGHORN

Carly began her publishing career in 2008 after teaching English to young offenders and school-refusers in East London. She started as a desk editor for the National Extension College, working on their GCSE and A-Level lists, and became managing editor thereafter. Carly has also worked as a commissioning editor and development editor in educational publishing, most recently as a Content Lead at Cambridge University Press. She has developed print textbooks and digital resources for the UK and international markets in a range of subjects, spanning primary school age to pre-university. Her interests lie in pedagogy and creating accessible, stimulating and relevant educational resources – something that her teaching days instilled the importance of – and working with authors to ensure that the needs of students and teachers alike are met.



CLAIRE EUDALL

Claire has worked in publishing for almost ten years, starting her career working on biomedical journals before moving to develop higher education textbooks at Cambridge University Press in 2010. Having studied biology, Claire specialises in working on science and maths projects and making complex material engaging and accessible. With a keen market awareness, Claire has applied her skills to projects from primary school through to higher education and is equally comfortable working in print and digital formats. She is highly experienced at assessing material for style and structure, making creative suggestions for improving text, advising on illustration and design briefs and applying best pedagogical practice.



ANTONIA MAXWELL

With over 20 years’ experience, Antonia is a highly experienced editor working across the educational, professional and trade sectors. A confident and versatile editor, she works across a range of media, from traditional print to ebooks, websites and blended e-learning products. With a creative and flexible approach, she brings her depth of experience to offer project management, list management, content development, content writing, copy-editing and proofreading services. Commercially aware and highly organised, she is passionate about delivering quality products on time and within budget. An adept problem-solver, she believes strong editorial values are the backbone of any successful product. She is highly accomplished in commissioning and development, working on many high-profile educational e-learning and print projects over the years. She has also recently authored online resources for Oxford University Press. As a freelance editor, Veronica has worked for a variety of educational publishers including Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Folens, and Bloomsbury Publishing as well spending a large part of 2016 as online editor for The Education and Training Foundation. She enjoys working on creating new, innovative products or improving existing products to enhance learning. She has a proactive approach to project management and a strong eye for detail.
